I wanted to do a review post some time last week. But unfortunately :( I had an emergency appendicitis condition last Monday and had been admitted to the hospital for a surgery. I will talk about it in another post next time. All in conclusion, last week was awful with pain, swollen abdomen, anxiety of surgery (first time eh!), the recovery (which made me feel like I am in confinement!). Despite all that, I'm thankful I'm in good hands now with lots of care and concern from family and friends. I realized life is really about...you-don't-know-when-you'll-be-out-and-down.
Back to our post of the day, yeah, it is about Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation which has topped my Love List for foundation. I owned Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation before and it was an amazing love! Sadly Revlon discontinued it...how sad! That foundation was a hit among many people too. Since then I was trying out other brand foundations. When Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation was newly launched, I didn't take notice of it. My first impression is "oh well, this one looks thick".... I then read a couple of reviews of this baby and they are pleasantly good reviews! Curious as a cat, I went to try the testers. Wow, it didn't feel heavy on my hand upon swatched. I know this baby has to go back with me ;)
THE PRODUCT
It's mousse like texture which feels silky upon application on skin. It looks creamy but suprisingly it feels almost like barely-there when applied. Though is mousse type, it doesn't feel like Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse's texture (which I didn't like it). Available 6 shades in Malaysia but 16 shades in the States (why we don't get a few more shades ahh Revlon?).
There are 6 shades available in Malaysia. I always wonder why we have limited choices of shades? I swatched Medium Beige on my hand and it blended well, as you can see on pic below. And I picked this shade home. Upon application on face, it looked slightly pinkish tone on my skin (my face is more of yellow undertone). It is not the perfect shade on my skin but it still looks fine. I experienced (I read some bloggers too) that after about 30mins to an hour, the foundation seems more settled on the skin thus looking more natural and flawless!
As this is an open-pot concept, there is a big gaping hole when you remove the plastic shield cover. This may seems lacking in terms of hygiene as redipping of fingers/brush are required. I personally prefer pump type of packaging as it is easier to pump out a desired amount and of course it will be more hygienic. I do notice Revlon Colorstay packagings are either "pour-out type" or "dip-in-type". Maybe a good pump type foundation next time, Revlon?

THE PRODUCT
The scent is kinda like "plastic-ky" smell but this is tolerable to me. I guess this is the kind of scent that reminded us of Revlon foundation as I recalled few foundations I tried from Revlon have similar scent.
Revlon claimed this foundation is "all day flexible wear without flaking, caking or feeling heavy". Well...I agree!!! More of my reviews below ;)

THE SHADE AND SWATCH
THE PACKAGING
As you can see, it comes in a glass container with a plastic shield cover and a black top cap. On the external outlook, its packaging is reasonably nice to be displayed on dressing table. However, the container is large, heavy and bulky hence it is inconvenient to bring out as it adds weight to bag. I move around places quite a fair bit so I transfer a portion out to a small container.
So far I have tried applying the foundation with fingers. I apply about 4-5 lines of the foundation on my face and using small strokes to blend it. A little goes along the way. This foundation gives medium to full coverage so apply little first and build it from there. I used it after my Elite Fastastic Primer. After the foundation application, I lightly set it with a loose powder. Viola! I have a light-feel yet natural looking skin. Love, love and loveeee.....
LBK'S REVIEWS
- It is really an all-day wearing foundation yet without feeling heavy, cakey or flaky! I applied the foundation the early morning and it actually lasted me till night time without touch up. I only experienced very light shine on T-zone at the end of day which can be lightly dabbed off.
- Upon usage, it feels like I'm not wearing any foundation :) Some light foundations I have tried didn't last on me. So, I'm pretty impressed that Revlon Colorstay Whipped is light feel yet it is so lasting!
- It is not exactly matte, hrmm...more of like satin matte? I like this finish.
- It provides medium coverage (full if buildable) which is something I always prefer.
- It doesn't wear off under normal hot humid weather or transfer. Non transfer is great as my little Nat loves to touch my face (is those times little one gets curious about things and starts exploring around).
- Great oil control.
- The scent is bearable, just that I wish it can be better.
SOME LBK MINUS POINTS
- No SPF
- Glass container is bulky and heavy so it is not travel friendly.
- The packaging is not sanitary and hygienic as dipping is required.
- Colors selection is definitely limited so people with yellow undertone may have problem finding their perfect shade.
- I feel it is little pricey for a drugstore brand foundation with MYR69.90 price tag.
LBK says this product is a love for her. Will repurchase.
What are your views on this great performer, if you have tried and using it? Overall I'm pleased with Revlon Colorstay Whipped and I'm loving it!
Have a fabulous Tuesday. Will blog soon...till then byeee!
